The Sanitary Board of Bluefield (SBB) was established in 1936 to finance, construct, operate and maintain a sewerage system in designated areas of Tazewell County Virginia and Mercer County West Virginia in and around the City of Bluefield, West Virginia.

The SBB sewerage system includes over 350 miles of sewer lines, 19 sanitary lift stations and two wastewater treatment plants. The SBB treats an average of 3.5 Million Gallons of wastewater a day and serves over 8,500 customers.

 

Mission

To provide municipal wastewater services to its customers in accordance with local, State and Federal rules and regulations.

Goals

  1. To Balance wastewater demands with available resources.
  2. Provide municipal wastewater collection and treatment service to customers by operating and maintaining wastewater lift stations, gravity sewers, force mains and treatment facilities in accordance with local, State Federal requirements to provide reliable public wastewater service in a cost effective manner without polluting the environment.
